The story

This piece began on New Year’s Eve in London. Using watercolour spread by hand as a base, I started to see a clear bright red mouth budding at the bottom of the canvas.

 

Now when I look at the finished work I see female empowerment. I see a painting that encourages us to be loud, vibrant and bold. It speaks to the outdated rules of being ladylike, muted and agreeable. Listen closely and you’ll hear her whisper “yeah, f*ck that sh*t.”
